YEAR 13! JAN. '22, AUGUST '23 50 Students at St. Mary Magdalene Classical Ctr.
With Year #13 funded,we now have begun working on year #14, 2024-24.
BUT: DUE TO 2 MONTHS OF LOST CLASSES, FULL DAYS OF CLASSES HAVE BEGUN TO CATCH UP. LUNCH! WE HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO RAISE FUNDS FOR LUNCH! $2,180USD PER MONTH + $800 FOR UTENSILS.
LUNCH PROVIDED FOR FULL DAY CLASSES! Due to the 2 months of no school this year #13, our schools decided to double classes each day. We had a special donation button on our St. Columba page and raised enough money for 2 months. $1,800 per month, $800 for utensils. Thank you! Due to ongoing serious violence from gangs, schools have not yet opened—Sept/Oct/Nov. Our schools decided to hold double day classes to start catching up on the missed time. This called for a “food” program for supplying lunches. To date HHE has been able to raise funds separately from the scholarship funds for food and utensils to make and service lunches. At first attendance was down, but as word got out that lunch was being served, more students have come. Haiti had already been under food shortage and now it has become an issue. A good addition to our program.
SLIDE SHOW: two months late, Nov.7, 2022, our schools decided to hold double classes a day with lunch in order to work on making up missed months of no school. Student books/tools were handed out--no uniforms now due to their ability to attract attention by the gangs. At the beginning attendance was low, but as the news about lunch spread, attendance picked up. Prior to this decision of making up missed months, there was a discussion abou using "WhatsApp" as a way for teachers to communicate to students at their homes. This process has been used in Haitian schools for upper classes. Our teachers were willing to use this for their lower classes. PROBLEM: over 80 students had no phones and we were unable to organize a fund-raiser or a way to collect second-hand phones.
FUNDING YEARS #9-11 2018-2021 Success including funding for communication equipment-batteries, printer, cellphone including solar power systems to support our management and violence reduction!

SUMMER'S END "WHITE PARTY", AUG. 18, 2018 Big Success!
This year people said this was the best of 4! We had wine, food, live music with Randy Moore, silent auction. Why "White" party? A southern custom of coming out at the end of summer with white clothes. "A beautiful sight dressed in end of summer white". We have been able to send the necessary funds for tuition and school supplies for the 50 kids at St. Mary Magdalene Classical Center. Also we have obtained funding for a communication system: computer, internet... We want to support this school to work on peaceful resolution of violent gang activities that have shut down our school regularly for the last several years Thanks to all our donors!. SEE SLIDESHOW BELOW: put mouse on first pic and click "play", every 7 seconds pic changes. To stop show, press "PAUSE" on the left of the current pic. You can select pics by numbers.
