LUNCH PROVIDED FOR FULL DAY CLASSES! Due to the 2 months of no school last year, #13, 2022-23, our schools decided to double classes each day. We had a special donation button on our St. Columba page and raised enough money for 2 months. $1,800 per month, $800 for utensils. Thank you! NOW! We have been asked to provide funding for lunch two weeks a month = $10.000. We have an initial donation of $1,000.00. "GoFundMe"??? Contact Tom Luce if you can help. [email protected]
YEAR 10 (2019-20) SCHOOLS WERE OPEN FOR A SHORT TIME DUE TO VIOLENCE AND NOW C-19! Closed 1st half, open from Jan to Mar 20 then closed because of virus.
THANKS TO ST. COLUMBA!

TO OUR GRACIOUS DONOR FOR 10
regs and 8 extras- STUDENTS AT OUR PARISH SCHOOL, ST. BERNADETTE!
ST. BERNADETTE 10 Regs + 8 Extras
APRIL 17, 2020 In an ordinary school year we are able to get a photo and a brief sketch of each individual student. This year has been extremely tough. But we do have the single photos of our new school--St. Bernadette--students, 10 original students plus 8 extra brought in for the 2nd half of this year. The money not spent for the 1st half was used to bring these extra students. In our other School St. Mary Magdalene, 50 regular students were joined by 50 extras! Note: these 18 students are in Pre-School. It is the ordinary rule to look serious when photos like this are taken--not just in our schools but nationally. We get our smiles in the group pictures!
MARCH 4, 2020: After schools were closed all Fall 2019, Our schools opened in January, 2020, still with continued closings and parents keeping children at home to protect them from violence.
The sections of Port-Au-Prince where are schools are located, 1) St. Mary Magdelene-Grand Ravine, 2) St. Bernadette-Martissant, have been overly hit with violence including murders and kidnappings. So far none of our people--students, teachers, families--have been directly hurt.
SLIDE SHOWS
#1. Thanks to a special donor we have been able to give some support to our Haiti Lisaison, Gentilhomme Jean-Gilles to help Father Laguere in his school management and in the campaign for peace-with-justice. The slides change every 8 seconds. Click on "Pause" to stop. You can also click on the arrows, forward/backward to see the photos you wish.

SLIDE SHOW #2 Our basic sharing of information usually is complete by the end of Fall. However only now --end of February 2020--have we been able to get on the ground and begin taking photos and getting the facts about our scholarship students--names, single picture, short statement. Here you see group photos of both St. Mary Magdalene (orange uniforms) and St. Bernadette (yellow uniforms, PreK) students in groups. They are happy and along with Fr. Laguerre, Pastor, they send St. Columba their deep appreciation for supporting their education especially in these very violent and dire times.
SLIDE SHOW #3 Thanks to our special donor we have added 8 students to the original 10. This was possible by taking the money not spent for the Fall when schools were closed and inviting new students to join. Here are some St. Bernadette older students (brown uniform). We will get the details of who each student is this week.
SLIDE SHOW #4 Pictures of single students have already begun being taken. We will have them as usual on this site when we get their names. Just to see some of our St. Mary Magdalene students now to show to what extent school is now finally open.
SLIDESHOW #5 Yesterday our Liaison, Gentilhomme went to St. Mary Magdalene school and sent these photos of students and the school buildings. Our schools opened in January after a year+ of violence. Even now there is general disruption of government,, no parliament, governing by decree. In spite of the continuing violence our classes are open. No student or family, or school personnel has been hit by the violence.
Beginning last year #9 - 2018-2019 - we reduced our 100 scholarships in 4 schools to 50 in one school, St. Mary Magdalene. You may still see students from other schools further down in the first 8 years.
