THANKS TO GENTILHOMME WE ARE NOW AT WALL'S
With a few glitches which I'll lay out in a separate blog for those of us like me who still need to learn about traveling, we arrived Sunday at 2:05 at the airport and at WALL'S International Guest House just a 10 minute ride from the airport. You can read about WALL'S by clicking on the name. More later about why I chose this for our stay.
Tomorrow we'll get to work organizing our week that includes a long list of meetings, starting of course, with our HHE partners.

O.K. a pretty dull picture. On purpose. So much has been written about the violence in Haiti recently, yes with some accurate facts, but still not giving a balanced picture, I wanted to say that in Ft. Lauderdale as the huge Jet Blue airplane was filling with mainly Haitians, and then arriving at the PAP airport, things seemed "normal". No buzzing, no scared faces. And on our way to Wall's International Guesthouse we saw the normal street vendors all around the entrance to the airport, huge smiling signs of candidates for president.
It doesn't seem that we need to worry about running into streets blocked with angry, violent-prone demonstrators although certainly there have been massive demonstrations/marches in the last months--mostly non-violent. The cause of stopping the election clearly had the support of the majority of Haitians--even supporters of the President who wanted to go on with the run-off, whole church communities. Now people want to move on to a solution. We'll keep our eyes open and careful.
Till next time!
